WHAT TO SEE
You can travel around the whole Island in a day, although, if you want to do a more thorough excursion, we recommend forty-eight hours. You can start with a visit to the beaches, an area dominated by a grand amphitheatre of spectacular cliffs that have been declared a Natural Monument for their geo-morphological and botanical interest, and the area of Timijiraque and the surrounding rocks. One stop that is not to be missed is in Ventejis, a small mountain range in the north east of the Island that was the site of the Garoe Holy Tree, felled by a storm in the XVII century. The largest park in El Hierro is the Frontera Rural Park, which shelters a variety of very different ecosystems. Interesting places in this borough are Sabinar, declared an Integral Nature Reserve, and El Julan, with its rock engravings and aboriginal ruins. In the south, La Restinga is the area with the most recent volcanic activity.
